Very soapy upon first spray. Dry down is nice but the siliage is poor.
Not what I expected for my first platinum order. Too sweet, if that's a thing.
In two words: Alluring autumn. 1872 starts out with a big hit of dry grassy notes. It quickly settles into a minty apple leaf freshness, giving a very distinct summery vibe. That again transitions into a smoother blend of those grassy notes, with apple, and a big hit of lemony citrus. It's not overwhelming, but opens up your nose to invite more fragrance in. There's definitely a spicy feel to it. There's a peppery note that's strong and clear, and really sides well with the grassy notes. It creates something clean, but dark, the florals aid with this. It's what I imagine the air would smell like if it were autumn in a grassy field in France. Like sitting next to a herbaceous garden just as the nights start to get cold. From my experience, it is a masterclass in changing shape without losing coherence. It's as if the perfumers know exactly which accord each material will evolve into at every stage. Perfect, perfect balance.
It's not bad but it's very feminine. It smells good and I like light smells but it's a little too girly.
good smells. disappointed because it doesn't last long at at. but its in the platinum ??????? its should be basic
Not for me but it could be good for someone else.
Smell is unique and has an older guy smell. Very earthy and woody. Not everyone is gonna like it. It’s old school if you ask me.
Does it smell good? yes. Does it smell like it's worth 550.00? absolutely not. Also the scent is not long lasting.
Definitely different. Seems like everyone who smells it gets a different note. Like it for a change of pace but not a daily wear.
Definitely different; very complex unusual combination make this a challenging scent to understand. Obviously quality and a very fine top notes of grapefruit. Wears down well. Bold and intriguing!
I understand the appeal, spicy citrusy, although the spicy just smells like old man body odor to me. I don’t think the price of this fragrance is justified at all. I have Club De Nuit intense man which smelled to me just like this scent minus whatever was giving me body odor vibes. I can’t imagine anyone below 30 rocking this scent.
Great smell, solid longevity. The wife likes it
I love spice in perfumes, not so much a big fan of citrus but wanted to expand my horizons. It’s a scent I’m not used to and I like that, but it is a little too “sharp” for me with the citrus and spice combo
I've had it before. Love it.
Excellent smelling. Reminds me of a nice barber shop smell. Longevity was decent.
Very long lasting. Very noticeable but not overpowering citrus notes.
Classy and sophisticated is what i get from this. Its a very clean scent that you can wear pretty much anywhere. Would make a good work place cologne.
This one is very nice. This one is in my regular rotation now.
Crisp bright scent. But not long lasting nor any unique aroma that makes it stand out.
First time ever smelling a cc fragrance..probably was expecting more than I should considering price..but it is a high quality product and seems to last a good while and appealing scent
I smell more green than citrus this is why I’m giving it 4/5. The hype about it was heavy citrus. Beside that, it’s a nicely done and sophisticated scent, hard to dislike.
It was not what I was expecting from the notes at all. It smells more green than citrusy to me.
The opening is a little feminine to me but the dry down is great
I don’t like it ,smells like pepper.
I have wanted to try a Clive Christian creation for a number of years. This did not disappoint. This is an excellent fragrance. It is quite potent so just a few squirts will do the trick. Stays with you all day. A lovely blast of citrus with a fantastic dry down. One of my favorites.
Great scent
I’m not sure what it is exactly, but I am not a fan. It’s a little too “sharp”, a little too bitter or “pungent”. It is clean and bright, and smells high quality. I just don’t see myself wearing it.
Reminds me of Creed's Royal Water, but fresher and more elegant than RW. The opening is a very fresh natural citrus and the dry down becomes a bit woody & floral. It also reminds me of Mr. Burberry Indigo, but to a lesser extent. For me, this is a must have.
I think it is OK, but my wife didn’t like it.
I get what there have said regarding this perhaps more of an older-man scent. As an older man, I love this scent. Soft, warm, rich, and classy.
This is different. The smell itself is unique it's a gentleman's smell, but for older men.
Very fragrant and copper citrusy. Kind of smelt like an older man fragrance. My husband asked me to exchange it
Smells feminine
Smells good and last long
Strong feminine scent. Not happy at all.
Wife and I love this one. Smells great and lasts on my skin all day.
Not my styler per say, however the notes are my style so I gave it a try I don’t love love it but I don’t hate it it’s got a strong opening and immediately my nose caught the pineapple which I’m drawn to I love pineapple fragrances then I got the pepper and grapefruit more as it dried once it completely dried the pineapple was gone and that’s where I’m not really happy with this one. Now I give it 4 stars cause just because it’s not for me don’t make it bad it smells high quality it smells like a strong good house like a fragrance du Bois or creed or roja type house high quality great products but not for me. I think many men will enjoy it though but if you’re like me and looked at the notes hoping for a bright Aventus type fragrance it’s not.
Smells like something an old man would choose to wear. I personally despise this fragrance. I itial spray is so peppery and spicy. Not my nodes.
Love it
The only reason I rate this 4 instead of 5 stars is that it's relatively simple for its price. It's fresh, it's green, it's bright, and I love it, but a fresh citrus fragrance shouldn't be $500 a bottle. I love this decant and I'm going to wear it out, but I doubt I'd be interested in a full bottle of it unless I could get it for close to or under $200.
Amazing
Beautiful elegant and classy cologne. Amazing
It’s a beautiful smelling fragrance that kind of reminds me of some soap called Irish Spring Soap in the initial opening. It’s like a hint of it then it settles down to this warm sweet comfortable smell that I really enjoy so much . I have on different occasions thought of getting a full bottle but it’s expensive . So for now, I’ll relish this 8ml bottle and enjoy it . I believe it’ll work great during the fall and winter months too.
Sooo good!! Such an amazing scent!
It starts out a little strong but quickly tones down to a wonderful scent. My wife loves it when I wear it, and that's a big winner. A full bottle is a bit pricey, but wow what a fantastic smelling fragrance.
High quality scent! Love the smell thinking about a big bottle.
This is my favorite scent ever!
This is a decent fragrance I can wear everyday when it’s a lil warm. Nothing special but it is good.
I love this scent! Very rich citrus lime and classy pomegranate after tones
Quality-wise. It is great. Noticeably high quality ingredients were used. However. It reminds me too much of other cheaper citrus aromatics, like lalique's pour homme. It Is a great fragrance to sample. However I would not commit to a whole bottle, given there are cheaper alternatives that perform similarly.
