D.S. & Durga
Blaring Pixies music on a hot day that's the inspiration for D.S. and Duga woody fig scent, Debaser. For anyone who has heard Pixies front man Black Francis wail, the thought of a fig scent may seem an odd choice. But Debaser, named after the band's 1989 hit, is not a typically creamy, lactic or fruity fig. It's a bright, hot green scent that opens with a waft of fig tree broiling in the August sun. It's an energetic, warm, bold and woody fig.
Debaser's refrain, I am un chien andalusia, is a nod to the title of Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali's classic surrealist film. Black Francis said of Bunuel, I wish Bunuel were still alive. He made this film about nothing in particular.
The title itself is a nonsense. D.S. and Durgas Debaser is therefore a tribute to a song about a film about nothing in particular. And fittingly, it's a fragrance that becomes even more compelling in its drydown, when it sheds the specificity of its figgy verisimilitude. That's when a perfect blend of base notes iris, coconut, tonka and moss leave a cool, velvet soft hint of wood on skin. Earthy and addictive.
Debaser is a Aromatic Fruity fragrance for women and men. Debaser was launched in 2015. The nose behind this fragrance is David Seth Moltz.

I like the hint of spiciness but the coconut is too much.
I loved how this was a fresh take on fig, which is something I usually don't gravitate towards. The green fig in here is perfect for spring and is definitely unisex.
IMMEDIATELY got a scent of dirt. I couldn't get past that to notice anything else about it. I sent it back for a different fragrance after 1 spray. Just not for me!
On a tester it leans more fig but on my skin it’s leaning much more sweet coconutty. I like it a lot but it wasn’t as green on me as I have read in reviews. Seems much more spring than summer.
Lives up to the hype. A quirky stemmy fig, I love how green this is. Not for everybody, super interesting!
Smells like outside grass not pleasant at all
I really like this one! Very green / earthy / woodsy. Has good longevity. May purchase a full size bottle.
It dries down into an overwhelming powdery smell. It does last but it is not a scent I'd like to last on my skin. I have returned it. Definitely not for me.
Smells like actual cut grass.
This smells like you’re sitting in a wet basement while someone is using coconut body wash upstairs in the shower. This one was not for me
This is a hard one for me. The dry down was my favorite. At first it was almost screechy and then woody/mossy. I paired it with Erba Pura to cut the sweetness and that helped a lot lol! Very interesting fragrance.
I think this is a lovely fig! Lots of green in the opening, which I love, that fades to a sweet but not sickly fig. Milkier than philosykos.
Super interesting scent, I almost love it. The opening is extremely green and fresh, it reminds me of my grandparents veggie garden (in the best way); grandparents specifically as to my nose it has a little musty-ness to it. The fig comes out in the dry down but not as much as I was hoping, if it was just a little sweeter it would be perfect
This scent really surprised me ! It’s very green and fresh but packs a punch with longevity and sillage. I like it very much. An interesting fragrance for sure !
This is not a bad fragrance however I don't like it for me. I have a very hard time with the opening which is green and woody to my nose. The fig is not sweet it smells like you are cutting branches and trimming a tree. I can smell the leaves and the stems and not much of the sweet flesh. The dry down is better, it gets a bit creamy with nice coconut. It is not a sweet coconut; it is a very realistic coconut flesh. At this point the fig is showing a bit more as well but again it is not sweet and ripe but slightly greener. And while I enjoy the dry down better getting through the opening is so challenging for me that I overall simply dislike the scent. This could be a great summer scent for the right person it is just not for me. Glad I dont have a full bottle.
It's beautiful, I absolutely love fig and coconut so it's no surprise really.
Interesting scent, I’m still deciding how I feel about it. It’s coconut forward with a LOT of earthiness behind it. At first I felt like it smelled like gravel. My husband said it was like going outside and walking into a bush “but not in an unpleasant way.” It is definitely growing on me though. It’s unique but not off-putting. The fig adds a lot of brightness to the creamy coconut. I think it’s a fun summer scent for when I’m feeling adventurous.
Very earthy but fresh, I dig it. Definitely different from anything I own.
It has a different smell than I'm used to but it was still pleasant. At first I didn't think I liked it, but it grew on me.
Um smells like leaves ?? like freshly picked leaves with some saw dust and dirt
Meh. This isn't for me. I love scents with Tonka undertones, but this one takes a peculiar direction I wasnt expecting. The coconut and Iris notes are the strongest part of the cologne. This may be a nice fragrance for vacation or something comparable, but it's a no for me.
Really pleasantly surprised by this one. A little too woody but still smells nice
An agreeable and likable fragrance that blasts all of its notes at the same time rather than one by one over the day. It has no real dry-down story to tell.
I understand the hype, just not for me. To me it smelled like wet tomato leaves. I’m sure some people want to smell like a wet tomato leaf, it’s not for me.
Delicious figs in summer
It smells nice. But if you want a manly smell don't get it. It's pleasant but definitely a unisex scent. I enjoy it honestly.
It's an extremely unique scent, but I find it pleasant. It reminds me of the leafy part of a tomato or pepper plant if that makes sense. Very earthy outdoors scent.
Hmm. I really haven’t decided if I like this scent or not. It’s very different from any others I’ve tried, but I’m also intrigued. It smells very strong at first, unique, peppery, woodsy, and also sexy. Dries musky, and subtle. I wish it lasted a little bit longer than it does. I haven’t had any compliments on it, yet, though.
This is very "Green" smelling. Nothing warm about it. Not even in the dry down. The sharp opening is too much for me. I usually love scents with Iris, but something in here just made this unpleasant. Sorry! It is just not for me.
Sharp green opening, not for me, but dry down is pleasant and I can smell the fig. To me it’s dry , cold and slightly powdery. Great for summer. Mod sillage and longevity. Husband’s first impression of it on me - he thought it smelt like I wore too much hair gel… I never use hair gel. Lol, I appreciate this perfume, it’s just not for me.
Definitely different… dries to something amazing but at first spray, smells like a tomato plant. More infatuated with how it can change while wearing
It just smelled awful, too peppery. I love the pixies and was so excited, but it was awful
Green vibrant scent, yet not overpowering. Herbal fig stands out in this scent.
So unique! Very earthy at the start but then the other notes start to kick in. Definitely not the best blind buy if you want a solely fig fragrance, but it's definitely worth a try!
I am absolutely in love with this perfume
My favorite scent from D.S. Durga. Effortlessly unisex. I don’t know all the fragrance lingo so I might be describing this wrong, but I would say it’s a fresh, sharp, earth scent
More coconutty than I thought it would be. A cheerful, laid-back scent.
Nice fragrance! Recommend it for late night dates or clubbing.
I bit to old woman smelling for me
Smelled at a man store and have wanted since. I'd say there is a woody element and it is very present without being loud
Amazing. I'm probably gonna get this again. Earthy scent and more importantly, lasts for a really long time.
A nice green fig fragrance, a little sweet but also earthy. Definitely more of a crowd pleaser than some Fig fragrances. While some say this a summer scent, I think it would wear better in the spring or fall. Like most DS and Durga offerings, the longevity leaves something to be desired. I wish it lasted longer and projected better. The formulation is probably not worth the price point of a full bottle. Unfortunate. Still on the hunt for the perfect fig.
One of the best perfumes I've ever smelled. My girlfriend kept burying her face in my neck.
Very sweet Frangrance
I didnt pick up a glimmer of coconut. To me it smells like grass. Its pretty clean, but not my cup of tea since I was looking for a more sweet coconut. Yeah, it smells like grass, a little zesty too.
Excellent fig-heavy scent. Earthy without being dirty or flat. Primarily fig with some notes of iris to lighten it up and tonka to ground. Greatly prefer this to Diptyque Philosykos.
Nice fragrance with fairly good staying power. Lasts all day.
